What's it about?

EgoSurfers.net is an experiment in collaborative weblogging. An offshoot from the degenerate denizens of SE, ES is what we like to think of as version 2. Each post and comment of the site is moddable in order to show your pleasure or displeasure with the content. The ultimate goal of the site is to create a completely user driven and maintainable site.

After you sign up and get access (user must wait one hour before posting, more on that below..) you can post to the main page with your own comments and a custom thumbnail image. Other users can then comment and discuss your post. Other users can also moderate your post, giving it a positive or negative point. In this way you, the users, create and administer the site!

Exactly what kinds of things do we post here?

Anything and everything. Just keep in mind that if what you post doesn't go over well, it will probably be downmodded. Don't take it personally. Just find something else and give it another shot.

Here are some examples of possible types of posts:

- Porn
- Music
- Porn
- Interesting News
- Funny stories
- An interesting game mod
- Your own personal projects, as long as they are worthy. What is worthy, you ask? Whatever the site deems so.
- Games
- Porn

These are things YOU SHOULD NOT POST:

- Stupid flamebait or trolling. Don't post whiny complaints about things or aggressive ignorant stuff. That's why there's negative mods, but if you do it blatantly, I'll kick you off.

US CODE: Title 18,2257. Is a major fuck you from our masters here in the USA. Essentially you can't post anything with genitalia exposed in a sexual manner. It sucks, but it's the law so please keep me out of trouble. Breasts are okay.

IMPORTANT: Do not hotlink!
Hotlinking is when you link directly to say, an .exe or movie file. It is generally considered stealing on the internet. Instead, link to the download page and specify where to click if needed.


What is Karma?

Karma is your site rating. It's a bit like experience points.

You can earn karma by the fashion in which you mod posts or comments and the scores on your posts.

Once you've made your first post, you will have access to the karam shop where you can spend your karma on those crazy mods you see people using and other kool stuff I'm working on.

What's a repost?

The -1 repost mod is really for people who post the exact same article or item as before. If there is a signifiacant change to something, it's not a repost.
Be sure to use the search option to avoid the repost!!

I don't understand the thumbnail thing..

The option to use thumbnails in posts is optional, but encouraged. It spices up the post and makes it unique. You do not hyperlink thumbnails from other places, but rather, you upload them off of your hard drive. Thumbs must be at or under the dimensions and filesize specified.
